What’s He Allergic To?

I didn’t post last week. Sorry about that. I ended up taking off for Mother’s Day, which is actually the first time I haven’t posted a comic since starting this site in July. Did you have a good Mother’s Day? We sure did. We ended up going to what I would call a Redneck Zoo, meaning that it’s a place that’s mostly a petting zoo, but there are also bears. And you could pet the bears. If you had a death wish. I mean, you weren’t SUPPOSED to pet the bears, but…they were probably more accessible than they should have been.

Anyway. I didn’t touch a bear. And this is getting way off topic. Where were we?

Allergies. My son is allergic to something. Or, somethings, more likely. He’s got bad eczema that’s gotten worse in the spring, he recently had his first sinus and ear infection, and now he’s sprouting hives on a daily basis. We’re still not sure what’s causing the hives. So far the suspects are:

– Amoxicillin (most likely, in my opinion.)
– Banana
– Vaccines (UGH! The anti-vaxxers are going to all up my butt if he had a reaction to a vaccine. But guess what? Even if he did, it still beats dying of whooping cough.)
– A virus that causes a rash

He has an allergist appointment tomorrow morning, so we’ll find out.

P.S. – If your child typically wakes up around 9:00 a.m., it’s reeeeeally stupid to schedule their doctor’s appointment for 8:00 a.m. I’m really kicking myself for that one.

P.P.S. – I’m hooooping the new website will be up by next week, maybe? I saw a preview of it today and it looks good.

P.P.P.S. – The drawing style is different! I’m playing around with more minimalist styles. That will allow me to get more comics out and go back to publishing three times a week….which I’m not doing now because I don’t want to overwhelm my web guy when he goes to transfer everything. As always, I appreciate your input on the changes!

  1. Going to the allergist is the best plan. He could just have an allergy to pollen or something, too? But allergists specialize in this stuff and would have a good idea 🙂

They wouldn’t test him for a pollen allergy. Apparently babies don’t develop seasonal stuff until they’re older? But! He’s not allergic to banana. Most likely it was a reaction to the amoxicillin. He did end up being allergic to milk, eggs, and cats.
